Who wold have known angels could be so much fun

Wow what a great time I had making these angels.  Although I'm kinda over making Christmas crafts and want to move on to Valentine's Day a friend asked me if I would make some.  I made a few Christmas themed ones but the rest are really cool colors.

I just used an old cd that I had to cut out the circles, sewed them together.  I used a heart stencil for the wings, cut 2 out from felt and hand stitched them together.  What a fun project.  I want to make more but really want to start Valentine's :)

#BEMORE ~ 77 Secrets To Your Powerful Life

#BEMORE   77 Secrets To Your Powerful Life   by Sandi Krakowski

Are you becoming who you were made to be?

I have been following Sandi for a few months now and I'm excited to read her new book.  Sandi is a real person doing real things.  She does not hold back and is not fake.

I look forward to reading her book and believing that I can be who God created me to be.  I don't have to worry about anything or anyone else of  this world.  No more doubting and listening to negative talk.  I stand with the positive people. :)

I have believed too many lies that myself and others have said about me.  I am full of power that I haven't even tapped into by the grace of God.

I believe all things are possible with God when we are obedient.

If you are interested in having an online book club let me know I can set one up.  I would love to share this journey with you and fellowship.

A Good Day to Help Friends

My friend at the Enchanted Florist Shop called today S.O.S. it was my pleasure to go help her.

I have been working in a flower shop since I was in my early 20's in NJ then in Maine and now in Florida.  I always seem to find a shop that I can call home no matter what state I am in :)

There is nothing like staying up till 2am sometimes just to get the orders out.

The Proverbial Life

A word from Mr D :)

I plan to write a book called "The Proverbial Life" that gives present day advice using the Book of Proverbs.
As I studied it over the years, I was surprised how much it still applies to today. I want to share what I have learned and ask that you do the same. Eventually, I may use this material for the book.
Other than Jesus, its author Solomon, was the wisest and richest man who ever lived. When God made him King of Israel and asked what he wanted from Him in a dream (1 Kings 3:5). Solomon asked for wisdom...apparently because he was overwhelmed by the tasks of governing the Jews, His Chosen People; and rightly so considering how difficult they were for even God to deal with.
How many of us would have said that? Most of us would say riches, death to our enemies, a super-human body, the ability to fly, live forever, or better yet, a corvette  The fact that he answered rightly, shows that God knew what He was doing.
So God gave us this book as a guide for all our problems. Truths that stand the test of time. Truths that will protect you, bless you, and help you sin less, make wise decisions, and in the end, get closer to God.
DAY 1: Proverbs 1:1-2 "The proverbs of Solomon, King David’s son, from Israel: Their purpose is to teach wisdom and discipline, to help one understand wise sayings."
The purpose of Proverbs is to give you the ability to understand, experience to retain knowledge and apply good judgment necessary for the proper training and behavior needed to live a life of purpose and glory to God.
In short, it's here to help you keep from screwing up your life and the lives of those around you.
But the Proverbs aren't enough in themselves, you also need the Author to help you discern their meaning. There are spiritual truths enclosed that you simply are not going to "get" without His help (1 Corinthians 2:14).
Feel free to comment and disagree. I don't have all the answers but I know enough to get this started.
1 Kings 3:5..."At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."
1 Corinthians 2:14: "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit."

Take Me Deeper

His Kingdom Come is so excited to announce the preparations are done and we are ready to launch

Take Me Deeper™ is a free weekly journey at His Kingdom Come beginning Friday, January 2 2015. Take Me Deeper™ will be a weekly devotional and verse that will prompt us to spending time in His word. It is about each of us encouraging, sharing and studying the word.

Each week you will get the opportunity to translate bible study into art- mixed media, a journal, a photograph, or a digital page, poem, music. Every Friday HKC will post a verse, devotional, worship video and examples of how we interpreted the bible study in our art.  We pray that these 52 weeks will change how you approach, engage and apply God’s word in your life and art. At the end of the year regardless of how many weeks you participated, you will have created a legacy of the faith walk. This legacy will show you how God has moved in your life!

   Who can join?
We welcome anyone who wants to take their faith walk deeper into understanding God’s Word and deeper into their creativity. We will begin January 2, but you can join at any time during the year. You can’t be “behind” since this is about your personal journey with God and your creativity. The community at His Kingdom Come will walk with you, support and encourage you!

   Where will the devotionals be?
Posts will be on the HKC site and on the HKC Facebook Page.

Where can I share and discuss my preferred art medium?
Discussions will be across all the art mediums, so feel free to check out each art group for ideas, questions, suggestions and creative ideas.

   So how do I start?
First, become a member of His Kingdom Come. It is free and the first step in accessing all the creativity on the site. Beginning December 2014, HKC will have suggestions for making a journal, decorating a journal, what journal to use, and supplies to gather.

If I am doing other projects, can I incorporate them into Take Me Deeper?
Yes, if you are part of the Journaling Bible community, or any other art community or project, you can mesh all the projects together. Take Me Deeper will assist you in reading your bible, understanding God’s word, and helping you learn how to express your God-given creativity.

What about One Little Word or My One Word? How does that fit into this process?
So glad you asked! Part of Take me deeper will be the opportunity to participate in Logos365™- finding the word God gives you to focus on for an entire year. Logos365™ will be a component of Take Me Deeper.  We will offer a worksheet for you to use to discover your logos365™, discussions about how to identify your logos365™ and how to live your logos365™ out through the year. Then, monthly Logos365™ prompts will initiate discussions about how you are doing living your word.

Scripture Cake

One of the things I look for at thrift stores are old cookbooks.  While strolling through The Southern Heritage Cakes Cookbook from 1983, which I'm not sure I want to call that old because I was graduating high school about that time, I found a recipe for Scripture Cake.

I did a little research and found that this is how young ladies would learn the scripture and remember the recipe.  The Pray Cook Blog has a recipe for the Scripture Cake.  Below is a pic of their cake and a link for you to get the recipe. :)

Scripture cake is also known as “Bible Cake”, “Scriptural Cake” and “Old Testament Cake” and was extremely popular in the latter part of the nineteenth century, especially in the southern Appalachians.  The cake was meant as a way to teach young girls baking and Bible verses.  The cake was sweet to eat, and a chance to modestly exhibit knowledge of the Bible.  It was fun in the form of an early trivia game, and a great dish to take to a church supper.  The original recipe didn’t include the ingredients only the amount next to the scripture. Mom and I recently used this recipe as part of a devotional we presented to our Community Bible Study leaders.  It was fun, filled with scripture with a very tasty ending!

I haven't made it yet but I do intend to.

Let me know if you make it and what you think about it.

Blessing :)

Starting My Re-purpose Journey

I have been hitting the thrift stores and boy is that fun.

This was one of my first finds.  It was in good condition and could probably be used the way it is.  BUT..... :)

This is what we used for pens and pencils on the counter in our kitchen.   So I decided to make my new find the new pencil holder.

I painted it with some blue chalk paint then decoupaged a piece of card stock to the front.  I love cookie cutters and these were sitting a a container where I couldn't see them.  Now I can see them every day.   Added a little more bling and it's done.

Chili in a Jar

I don't know where I found these pics I have had them for a while.  What a great idea for a chili themed party.  The mason jars have chili on the bottom and corn bread on the top.  Easy for and out door party.

Cut open an pumpkin to use as a bowl to fill the chips.

And a decorate can for the utencils.

New Card Making Tecnique ~ Sew Easy :)

One of my favorite things to do it hand sew and one of my new obsessions is card making.
I found a really cool tool to do both.  My first attempt was with a stencil that shows you where to poke the holes to sew.  Then I trimmed the the holy card with the piercing tool.

I sewed the snowflakes using the stencil. The string that I used had different color blues running along the string.  I think I went a little overboard on the glitter ;)  I'll get the technique down sooner or later.

I guess everyone is getting a handmade card this year!!! :)

Promise Stocking

Day two of the Pause, Ponder and Prepare talked about Promises Fulfilled.

When you keep your promise to others they feel love, their heart is filled with love and hope.

The days are coming," declares the Lord, "When I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah."  Jeremiah 33:14

While pondering this study I thought about how God will acknowledge my obedience.  Last month I was tested in this area and I'm happy to say that I was obedient and the gifts from the Lord were so worth it. I am thankful that He promises to be my refuge and strength to always come through in His timing and way.

My ornament today is stuffed with God's promises of Salvation, Love, Hope and Faith.

You can make this any size that you want.  Just find a template or draw one yourself.

I love to hand stitch so instead of pulling out the sewing machine I just went to town.

I bought this trim to make bigger stockings but guess who go them now ;).  You can just any type of trim that you have around.  You can sew it or glue it on the stocking.

I added a take that said promise and a bow.

Glued in some faux pine, a few gingerbread men of course and cinnamon sticks that I painted the words on.

How to Roast a Pumpkin

Today I decided to bake up one of the baking pumpkins not sure what I will do with is yet but I will be sure to show you :)

When I first looked up how to bake them it said on a cookie sheet then I decided to look further and found this one that makes more sense to me.

http://elanaspantry.com/how-to-roast-a-pumpkin-in-10-steps/

I took it a step further and figured since it will be in the oven why not add some pumpkin spice to the water to make the house smell like fall :)

Do you have any favorite pumpkin fall recipes that you would like to share with me?

Vintage Fabric and Treasures

My new hobby is going to thrift stores and finding crafting treasures :)
I got a bag full of vintage fabric, panels, yarn and even a cross stitch panel. All for $3.00

At a different thrift store I found awesome quilt printed fabric squares.  Even though I don't quilt, (yet :)  )  I'm sure I can find plenty of fun things to do with them.

Do you go to thrift stores to find treasures?

I found a dog bed for Gordie it was in great condition, like new, for only $4.

Gift Box Ornament 2014

The day one of Pause, Ponder & Prepare we were asked to ponder.

Let your mind wander to your memories of Christmas as a child, the excitement, lights, colors, etc.  How do you compare the anticipation you had about Santa and getting gifts with your anticipation of the coming of Jesus Christ?

While I was pondering this I thought about the excitement of waking up to presents under the tree.  This gift reminds me of the gift that Jesus has giving us.

I searched on google for a box template (many to choose from), cut it out of glitter card stock and glued it together.  I then wrapped with the ribbon, bow and a tag that said joy.  Joyful is how I feel knowing that I am redeemed and that the Lord has set me free. :)

First Day of Advent Study

This is my cover for the Advent Study

This is my first day page I don't really like it but... oh well I wasn't trying for perfection :)

I'm having fun working on some Christmas cards I'm going to be selling at craft shows.

And look what I found at the thrift store a fabric treasure.

His Kingdom Come Blog Hop

Wording for HKC Blog Hop

This is an online Community where fellow Christians can encourage, share and learn about Christianity and explore the God-given creativity that he has put in us all.  It will be a safe place to share your faith, be inspired, and explore creativity across many art mediums - journaling, mixed media, painting, bible journaling, textiles, watercolor and more.  His Kingdom Come will offer free tutorials, technique classes, devotionals, crafts to celebrate the holidays, opportunities to go deeper in your faith and in your knowledge of God and the Bible.   The website will also offer Christian artists a platform to host classes (free or fee-based) which you will be able to sign up for.

A team of talented Christian artists have come together to launch this exciting new community.  This blog hop is your chance to get to know them.

It doesn’t matter where you start within the blog hop.   Or you can start at the beginning with Diane.  Each blog has the complete list of participants.

As you visit each blog you will be given a letter eg. D.   When you have collected all the letters they will make a word.  When you have worked out the word email Bernice hkcbloghop@gmail.com with the word.  We will randomly choose 3 people who have the correct answer to win a prize.   All entries must arrive by Noon (Pacific time) on Monday 3rd November.

The letter to collect from my blog is C

Let me introduce myself:
My name is Justine, I live in Palm Bay FL with my husband and children.

How does your faith impact your creativity?  When I create whether is it crafts or choreography God is mostly in control.  He gives me ideas and visions.  It's so cool to see what He does.  I pray and open my heart to him when I am creating.

What is your preferred medium of creativity?   I am what you call a jack of all trades.  There is not one medium that is my favorite.  I think I would get really, really bored if I only worked in one medium. :)  I have been crafting most of my life.  I enjoy crocheting, floral design, paper crafts, jewelry making, tole painting, designing, sewing, plastic canvas, gift basket design, candy arrangements and embroidery.  I also like to dabble in cake decorating from time to time.

What is your role within the His Kingdom Come team?   I will be one of the hostess for the crafting area of His Kingdom Come.

What are your hopes for this new community?  My hope that people will be able to open their mind and heart by using their creativity to grow closer to the Lord.   For people to know they are not alone in their journey and as a community we can make an impact. :)
